A man was arrested on Friday after assaulting several officers of the Public Security Police (PSP) inside a commercial establishment in Vila Nova de Famalicão.
The PSP explained in a statement that the suspect recognized a police officer who had previously detained him for a traffic violation.
After recognizing the officer, who was off duty, the man, accompanied by other individuals, threatened and assaulted the officer.
The officer had to call for reinforcements, who managed to arrest the suspect. However, the man remained aggressive and ended up assaulting the reinforcements as well.
According to the PSP, the suspect was in possession of a knife, which was seized at the time of arrest.
