The Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP), through the Cascais Police Division, detained a 62-year-old man in the union of parishes Cascais and Estoril on June 18, suspected of committing the crime of serious bodily harm with a firearm.
The PSP revealed on Wednesday that it had been informed of a 76-year-old man “shot in the left foot with a firearm,” and “the suspect had already fled.”
“The officers promptly arrived at the scene and gathered essential information from the victim and an eyewitness, making it possible to locate the suspect at his residence,” noted the security force.
The suspect was confronted by the PSP and confirmed “he fired the shot, voluntarily handing over the firearm used.”
The victim was immediately attended to by emergency medical services and transported to São Francisco Xavier Hospital, “to undergo surgery to remove the lodged bullet in the left foot, which will later be collected for forensic analysis.”
The suspect was brought before the Cascais Court for a first judicial hearing and was subjected to the most severe coercive measure, pre-trial detention.
