A 24-year-old man was arrested in Lisbon on Tuesday for attempted robbery and stabbing the victim during the assault, the PSP reported today, noting that it was the citizens who prevented the suspect’s escape.
The victim, a 54-year-old man, “was walking in Largo do Carmo when he was struck by a knife while his backpack was being pulled by the suspect who was trying to rob him,” explained the police.
“Due to the victim’s resistance, the suspect attempted to flee but was stopped by several citizens,” they added.
The victim was transported to the hospital, and the suspect was charged with robbery and assault, awaiting court appearance.
