An attempted homicide incident, marked by domestic violence, unfolded today at around 4:30 AM, as reported by a representative of the Leiria GNR Territorial Command. A 73-year-old man attacked his wife by stabbing her in the chest with a sharp weapon in the parish of Vieira de Leiria, within the municipality of Marinha Grande, Leiria district.
The victim, aged 68, was subsequently transported to Santo André Hospital in Leiria.
The GNR’s Specialized Victim Support and Investigation Unit (NIAVE) was also present at the scene.
The man was apprehended and is expected to appear this morning before a criminal investigating judge at the Leiria Court for the determination of preventive measures.
The investigation has now been transferred to the Judiciary Police.
