Around 9:00 PM, an incident unfolded when a man seized a vehicle that was stationary with the engine running outside a facility as the crew prepared to transport a patient, according to a spokesperson from the Faro Territorial Command of the GNR.
The man drove a few kilometers with the emergency lights on until he reached the salt marshes of Castro Marim, where he was eventually intercepted by the authorities.
There were no reported material damages or personal injuries, and the vehicle was subsequently returned to the firefighters, the source added.
The affected authorities have a period of six months to formally file a complaint, as the man faces charges of vehicle theft, concluded the GNR.
