A 29-year-old man was arrested last Tuesday by the Public Security Police (PSP) on suspicion of committing violence following theft.
The Metropolitan Command of Lisbon PSP states in a communication that “the suspect was seen by a store security guard stealing sportswear from a shop.”
The security guard, who attempted to intercept and detain the suspect, was “assaulted in the face and neck,” sustaining “minor injuries.”
The 29-year-old was eventually “taken inside the store” after additional security personnel arrived, waiting for “the police to arrive.”
Upon arrival, the PSP confirmed “that the stolen items were in the suspect’s possession,” who was already “known” to the officers for “similar crimes.”
After being presented for the first judicial interrogation at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Amadora, the detainee was released under a term of identity and residence.
