A 35-year-old man, wanted in Germany on suspicion of committing over twenty child sexual abuse crimes, has been detained in Lisbon, according to a statement released by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on Wednesday, August 27.
According to investigators, German authorities suspect the man regularly abused his stepdaughter since 2020.
In July, he was reportedly caught by his wife abusing the girl sexually.
He then allegedly left the house and fled to Portugal with the support of family members.
After various investigative procedures and information exchange with their German counterparts FAST, the PJ reported that they succeeded in locating and arresting him.
The detainee will now appear before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for a decision on the appropriate coercive measures to be applied.
