An individual detained for the alleged theft of a vehicle escaped from the Esposende Court today while awaiting the announcement of preventive measures, according to a source from the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR).
The source reported that the suspect was heard in an initial judicial interrogation and at the end reportedly told a court employee that he was going to speak with his lawyer.
“He exited through a side door and fled,” the source added.
In his escape, he reportedly used a bicycle that he “picked up nearby.”
The suspect, who has a criminal record, is now being sought by the GNR.
The GNR detained the suspect on Wednesday in Marinhas, Esposende, along with another man and a woman.
At the time, the GNR also recovered a stolen vehicle.
