A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Setúbal district on suspicion of aggravated sexual coercion involving a 14-year-old girl, according to a statement from the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) provided on Friday.
Investigators state that the crime took place on May 7, when the suspect, traveling on a motorcycle, stopped in a street in Seixal and approached the walking teenager.
Under the pretense of asking for information, the suspect followed the girl through several streets, harassing her verbally and grabbing her, subjecting her to “various contacts of a sexual nature.”
The suspect, who has a criminal history of a similar nature in his country of origin, which PJ inspectors have not disclosed, will now face an initial judicial interrogation to determine appropriate coercive measures.
The arrest warrant, according to the authorities, was issued by the Seixal section of the Central Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DCIAP) in Lisbon.
