The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested a 36-year-old man on April 8 for drug trafficking in the municipality of Paços de Ferreira.
The security force outlined in a statement released on Saturday that the arrest was the result of an approximately 14-month-long investigation into drug trafficking activities.
“The Guard’s officers conducted police actions that determined the suspect, after having been sentenced to house arrest for similar offenses, continued his illicit activities from his residence,” the statement disclosed.
As a result of the operation, a house search was conducted, leading to the arrest of the individual and the seizure of nine doses of cocaine, three vehicles, two motorcycles, two mobile phones, and 130 euros in cash.
The arrested individual was brought before the Penafiel Judicial Court, where he was remanded in custody and is set to serve preventive detention at Custóias Prison.
