A 37-year-old man was arrested on Friday in Alvalade, Santiago do Cacém, Setúbal district, as announced by the Public Prosecutor’s Office on the official website of the Regional Attorney General of Évora.
The arrest was executed under a European arrest warrant issued by Romanian judicial authorities.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that the suspect was convicted in Romania for the crime of kidnapping. The detention was validated on Saturday by the Judicial Court of Évora.
The man appeared today in the Court of Appeal of Évora, where he consented to his transfer to Romanian authorities, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“In accordance with the Public Prosecutor’s proposal, the transfer was ordered, and the detention will be maintained,” meaning he will remain in preventive custody until his extradition, the office added.
