
An international suspect wanted by Brazilian authorities for drug trafficking was apprehended by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in Loures, Lisbon district, on Wednesday.
In a statement, the PJ reported that the 28-year-old man was detained “under an international arrest warrant issued by Brazil’s judicial authorities.”
“The events took place in March 2018, in a city in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, when during a police operation, he was found in possession of approximately one kilogram of a substance that, after analysis, was confirmed to be marijuana,” the authority added.
The detainee is set to appear before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for the application of preventive measures.
