A man with a history of domestic violence was taken to court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody, according to the Public Security Police (PSP).
On the previous Friday, authorities received a report of domestic violence, discovering that the victim had been “violently assaulted the day before, and threatened with a firearm,” the statement said.
The PSP detailed that “given the severity of the situation, which required immediate intervention,” arrest and search warrants were issued that same day, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Faro.
At the time of his arrest, the man was found in possession of an illegal firearm, a 6.35 mm caliber pistol, which was allegedly used in the crime, according to the PSP.
A search of his residence, supported by the National Republican Guard (GNR) of Faro, resulted in the seizure of a hunting weapon, various ammunition, five cannabis plants, 378 individual doses of hashish, and a precision scale.
