A man suspected of killing an individual found dead in a vehicle in Alcobaça has been detained, as announced today by the Polícia Judiciária. The victim was reportedly involved with the suspect’s wife.
The incident occurred yesterday at around 9:30 AM in the IC2 area, Moleanos, in the municipality of Alcobaça, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old man.
Emergency services were alerted to an “unconscious victim sitting in the vehicle, possibly attacked with a weapon” in Covões, Aljubarrota. Upon arrival, the victim showed no vital signs.
A statement from the Polícia Judiciária reveals further details, indicating the incident “occurred in a passion-driven context, as the suspect’s wife was in a romantic relationship with the victim.” The 39-year-old man was caught off guard by the suspect while in his car parked by the roadside, suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Following the crime, the 46-year-old suspect turned himself in at the GNR in Alcobaça and confessed to the homicide. He will soon appear for his initial judicial interrogation as a detained defendant.
