The Deposit Guarantee Fund announced that on October 14, 2025, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Portugal appointed Vice-Governor Luís Máximo dos Santos for another term as chairman of the Fund’s Directive Commission, retroactively effective from July 6, 2025.
The FGD’s leadership is chaired by a member of the Bank of Portugal’s Board of Directors, designated by them, and the members of the Directive Commission serve for three-year terms, renewable up to a maximum of four terms.
The Deposit Guarantee Fund ensures the reimbursement of deposits in the event of credit institutions’ unavailability.
