Man’s body found floating in the River Tâmega in Amarante

This Friday, the body of a man was found floating in the River Tâmega, in São Gonçalo, Amarante, by a local man. The body has already been removed from the water.

“We have already removed the body and are currently awaiting the arrival of the health inspector,” a source from the Amarante Fire Brigade told JN.

According to the same source, the body of the man, who was in his 70s, should then be taken to the Vale de Sousa Institute of Legal Medicine in Penafiel, where it will be autopsied.

The cause of death is still unknown.

The GNR is also at the scene. The alarm was raised at around 8am.
