
The announcement was made through the official page of the Presidency of the Republic, with the bill being presented on Monday by the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro.
According to the document now ratified by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, residence permits expiring between February 22, 2020, and June 30, 2025, that have already expired, will be valid until October 15 of this year.
On Monday, a government source acknowledged to Lusa that the “deadline is short” but emphasized that “it is possible to meet it.”
“By October 15, all [immigrants with resident cards] will have received a renewal email or will have registered on the platform,” the source stated, highlighting that for cases where passports and biometric cards are updated, this process will be online.
