The President of the Republic has enacted the government decree setting renewable energy integration targets for the industry and transport sectors, a crucial component of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) reform. This announcement, made today on the Presidential website, underscores the decree’s role in fulfilling the sixth payment request from the PRR.
The decree, approved by the Council of Ministers on May 29, establishes goals for 2030 with a minimum quota of 16% renewable energy in the industry sector and 29% in the transport sector.
These targets are valid until the EU directives on promoting the use of renewable energy sources are incorporated into national law.
This decree represents one of the structural reforms within the PRR, focusing on the new regulatory framework for renewable hydrogen.
According to the statement by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, by implementing this reform and receiving the sixth payment request, Portugal has secured 12.7 billion euros from the PRR, 57.3% of the total, with 8 billion already disbursed to final beneficiaries.
