Emphasizing the urgency of maternal and neonatal health care, the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, issued a statement published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic. The note coincides with World Health Day on April 7, marking the anniversary of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) foundation.
This year, the WHO highlights World Health Day with a warning about maternal and neonatal mortality, aligning with the theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.”
President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa emphasizes the paramount importance of quality healthcare for mothers and babies as a crucial element of public health policy. He also stresses the urgent need for neonatal care, a call to action the WHO has extended to all nations and governments on this World Health Day.
