Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has announced his decision to officially enact a decree despite acknowledging that the current legislation continues to include exceptions to the general regime and that sections dealing with anti-corruption measures require further depth and development.
The head of state explained that his choice was influenced by significant changes introduced by the Socialist Party, with the support of the Social Democratic Party, which addressed concerns raised with the previous version of the decree.
On February 28, the parliament approved amendments to the Legal Regime of Territorial Management Instruments via a parliamentary review of the decree-law from the PSD/CDS-PP government dated December of the previous year.
