Marcelo sends message of condolences for the fires in South Korea

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa conveyed his condolences over the severe wildfires that have ravaged South Korea for several days, resulting in numerous casualties and significant material damage. Details of his message were outlined in an official statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

In a communication to his South Korean counterpart, the President expressed solidarity with the affected populations and extended condolences to the victims’ families, along with wishes for a swift recovery for the injured impacted by this tragedy.

The recent wildfires, among the worst in South Korean history, have already claimed more than 20 lives, demolished over 200 structures, and forced the evacuation of 27,000 people.

South Korean Acting President Han Duck-soo has expressed concerns that these fires, which began the previous Friday, could cause unprecedented damage compared to past incidents.
