
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, had a “very good night” following emergency surgery for an “incarcerated hernia” at São João Hospital in Porto on Monday, stated the hospital’s Board of Directors president, Maria João Baptista.
According to the official, Marcelo is “in very good spirits” and may be discharged as soon as tomorrow.
“The President of the Republic had a very good night, he talked with us, he is in good spirits, and the postoperative period is progressing calmly and appropriately,” she said.
