“I have a mandate to fulfill, would say fulfilled, I will always be available for the country, whether in government, at the Central Bank, or at a university doing what I like most, which is talking,” stated the Governor of the Central Bank during the press conference for the presentation of the June Economic Bulletin.
Mário Centeno’s term at the Central Bank ends on July 20, and the governor has already expressed his willingness to continue, but the decision now lies with the AD Government.
If the former Finance Minister is not reappointed, this will have been the last presentation of the Economic Bulletin, a document containing the central bank’s projections for the Portuguese economy, which estimates a return to budget deficits and also a slowdown in economic growth this year.
