Maritime Police detect infractions on board vessels in the Azores

The Local Command of the Maritime Police (MP) of Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, detected several infractions on board five fishing boats, on the island of São Miguel, following an inspection action, it was announced today.

According to the MP, the “lack of documentation on board, the lack of wingspan of vests or buoyancy aids” and the “non-compliance with the safety capacity” are at issue.

The MP also identified a “lack of a radio operator’s certificate, signaling and identification of fishing gear”.

As part of the initiative, five boats were inspected, four professional fishing boats and one recreational boat, and the police issued four notices of violation. Three members of the Ponta Delgada local police command were involved in the operation, supported by a boat.
