The Maritime Police seized 13 illegal fishing nets this Thursday in Leiria and Marinha Grande during an enforcement operation.
“The team from the Local Command of the Nazaré Maritime Police seized, this morning, May 1, 13 fishing gears, known as ‘redes majoeiras’, during an enforcement operation targeting these nets between the beaches of Pedrógão and São Pedro de Moel,” stated the National Maritime Authority (AMN) in a Facebook post.
It was reported that 13 fishing gears, referred to as ‘redes majoeiras’, were found, which were set during the closed season and were irregularly placed without proper signaling and identification.
The Maritime Police collected and confiscated the nets and also filed official reports.
