“A great friend and a staunch supporter has passed away. But above all, a great woman has left us. Sensitive, dedicated, intuitive, generous, genuine, and with a remarkable career in public service,” wrote Luís Marques Mendes in a statement sent to Agência Lusa.
In his message, the presidential candidate and former PSD president also recalled the “strong social concerns” of the former vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic.
“To her family and the CDS, her lifelong party, my solidarity and heartfelt condolences. To Teresa, my eternal gratitude,” added Luís Marques Mendes.
Teresa Caeiro died on Thursday at the age of 56.
