Pianist Máximo will perform at the Leiria Museum on Sunday at the opening of a new edition of “Capítulo”, a project that for the third year running is exploring the contemporary nature of museums through music.

The cycle of concerts is programmed by Omnichord and the Leiria Museum, who present the first guest as a “prodigy artist”.

“Despite his classical and formal training, since the age of six he has made self-taught incursions into the composition of original pieces, revealing from an early age a particular aptitude for the fusion of diverse musical styles,” reads the synopsis.

With the album “Greatest hits” (2023) in his luggage, 20-year-old Máximo reveals “a certain daring perpendicular to his entire career that has opened doors for him and piqued his interest in deepening the connection between his music and other cultural universes”.

Currently studying for a degree in jazz composition at Codarts Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, Máximo will be playing at the Leiria Museum from 6:30pm on Sunday, in a concert with free admission, but reservations are required at

The “Chapter” cycle, which takes place in the Chapter Room of the Convent of Santo Agostinho, where the Leiria Museum is located, takes place during “the months when the weather conditions are usually most adverse”, in order to attract the public to the museum.

Through a program focused on the exploration and fusion of musical languages, “living pictures” are presented in concert form, “creating practices and discourses” aimed at cultural fruition through “new dynamics and new redefinitions of place”.

After Máximo, three more of the six concerts in this edition of “Capítulo” have been confirmed.

Tó Trips performs in Leiria on February 18, while Chica brings her mix of folk, anti-folk and jazz to the museum on March 17.

On May 19, the band Senhor Jorge will bring to the Sala do Capítulo “their lively voice that sings about the past, aging, memory and the oldest love”.

The remaining “Capítulo” shows will be on October 20 and November 17, with artists yet to be announced.
