Melco’s gaming operator profit in Macau increases by 33% in the 3rd quarter

In the same period of 2024, Melco, with three casinos in the region, reported profits of 138.6 million dollars (120.1 million euros), the company announced in a statement.

The group’s operating revenues between July and September amounted to 1.31 billion dollars (1.13 billion euros), marking an increase of approximately 11% compared to the third quarter of the previous year, when it reported 1.18 billion dollars (1.02 billion euros), stated the company led by Lawrence Ho, son of gaming tycoon Stanley Ho (1921-2020).

“The rise in total operating revenues was primarily due to better performance in both overall gaming operations and non-gaming operations,” the statement highlighted.

In the first 10 months of the year, Macau’s gaming sector achieved total revenues of 205.4 billion patacas (22.9 billion euros), up by 8% from the same period last year, it was announced on Saturday.

Dubbed the world’s gaming capital, Macau is the only place in China where casino gaming is legal.

Six concessionaires operate in the territory—MGM, Galaxy, Venetian, Melco, Wynn, and SJM—having renewed their concession contracts for the next ten years in December 2023, which came into effect on January 1, 2024.
