The strikes have been organized by the Sindicato das Indústrias Metalúrgicas e Afins (SIMA) and the Sindicato dos Transportes (ST), beginning at 00:00 today and concluding at 24:00 on Monday.
This structure is repeated over four weekends in August, with the second strike taking place from 00:00 on August 8 until 24:00 on August 11.
Further strikes are scheduled for the entire periods from August 15 to 18, August 22 to 25, and August 29 to September 1.
The strikes are driven by demands such as ending base salaries below the national minimum wage, better wages, compliance with payment for night hours, and maintaining access to the parking lot under the same terms and conditions “that have always been applied,” according to the unions.
The Arbitral Tribunal has defined minimum services to assist with all flights imposed by critical situations related to the safety of people and goods, including ambulance flights, emergency situations declared as flights, particularly for technical or meteorological reasons, and others that, due to their nature, make flight assistance absolutely urgent.
Minimum services also include all military flights, all State flights, national or foreign, all flights already underway at the start of the strike and whose destination are national airports assisted by SPdH, and all TAP flights returning to Lisbon that are on ‘night-stop’ at a European scale.
In addition, a connection between Lisbon and Ponta Delgada (Azores), Lisbon and Terceira (Azores), Lisbon and Funchal (Madeira), as well as between Porto and Madeira and Porto and Ponta Delgada, should be ensured.
