The year is drawing to a close, and Mercadona is preparing for its 2026 openings. The Spanish supermarket chain announced on Thursday that it has begun the recruitment process for a new store set to open in Vila Real, similar to its announcement for a location in Beja.
“Mercadona, a supermarket company with 68 stores already in Portugal, will open a new store in Vila Real next year. This new location will create 70 new jobs,” stated a company press release.

Mercadona states that job openings are available for store operators in all sections, and all positions offer a training period with a permanent contract, paid from day one.
“Moreover, during the training period, all expenses—including food, transportation, accommodation, and twice-monthly trips home—are covered by the company,” according to the release.
