According to an official document published in the Diário da República, expropriations have been declared in the public interest, affecting parcels at numbers 360, 364, 368, 374, 380, and 386 on Rua de Júlio Dinis.
The attached map indicates that these small parcels include public spaces and shrubs adjacent to a cluster of commercial establishments facing Praça da Galiza, near a local gas station.
The expropriation and temporary occupation arise from “challenges encountered during the expropriation process, which revealed the formal cadastral support to be inappropriate given the current reality, particularly regarding area, matriculation, property description, and stakeholders involved.”
It became necessary “to alter the parcel area,” explained the document signed by the Secretary of State for Mobility, Cristina Pinto Dias, who emphasized the “public interest” in the unimpeded continuation of the works.
“The financial burdens of these expropriations are the responsibility of Metro do Porto, S.A., which has the necessary financial coverage and has provided a bond to ensure payment,” the document stated.
With a projected cost of at least 304.7 million euros, the Rosa Line will connect the existing metro stations Casa da Música and São Bento, with intermediate stations at Hospital de Santo António and Praça da Galiza.
The Rosa Line will feature a fully subterranean route between São Bento and Casa da Música in Porto, including the intermediate stations Hospital Santo António and Galiza. It also comprises a branch linking to the main line, which is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026, following several delays.
The station currently under construction in the Casa da Música area will also include platforms for the Rubi Line (Santo Ovídio – Casa da Música), which is also under construction.
