Metro workers with plenary session to decide whether to continue strikes

Sara Gligó from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS) announced that the assembly held this afternoon ended without a resolution. As a result, a follow-up meeting with workers has been scheduled for 11:30 PM.

The union leader mentioned that representatives met with the Lisbon Metro administration earlier today, which “reiterated the previously presented proposal.”

However, the final decision on whether to proceed with the planned partial strikes for Tuesday and Thursday will be made after tonight’s meeting.

If the strikes proceed, they will occur from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM for operational staff, 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM for workshop staff, 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM for fixed and administrative personnel, and 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM for night and track services.

The Lisbon Metro has informed that the arbitration court did not mandate minimum services for these partial strikes, and operations will only commence at 10:30 AM.

The demands include an increase in meal, holiday, and Christmas allowances, as well as changes to the maximum weekly working hours.

The Lisbon Metro operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia), and Red (Aeroporto-São Sebastião).

Normally, the metro runs between 6:30 AM and 1:00 AM.
