A microcar veered off course on Tuesday morning on Rua da Torre in the parish of Eja, Penafiel municipality, plunging off the Ponte das Ardias, as reported by the Volunteer Firefighters of Entre-os-Rios on Facebook.
The driver, an elderly man whose age was not disclosed, survived with minor injuries but was transported to Padre Américo Hospital in Penafiel for treatment.
The emergency call was received by the fire department at 07:57.
At the scene, 11 responders from the Volunteer Firefighters of Entre-os-Rios, supported by three vehicles, undertook the rescue of the elderly individual following the fall, with assistance from the National Republican Guard.
