The Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, commented on the migrants who arrived in the Algarve on an artisanal boat on Friday. Among those who disembarked in Vila do Bispo were seven minors, 25 men, and six women.
In Olhão, the minister spoke about the swift actions of all authorities, from health services to “courts that quickly decided and concluded on the order of removal from national territory. That’s what will happen.”
“At this moment, there is no asylum request, and it’s not worth speculating about the matter and the destination,” he added when asked about it.
“There was a detection, interception, the people were all identified by the authorities,” he summarized, ensuring that first of all these people were assisted. “There were dehydrated people, there were minors. Some were brought to court,” he detailed.
The minister further stated that the migrants will be housed in a pavilion, a “temporary” solution for cases like this. “At the moment, the mechanisms are more time-consuming,” he said.
