Miguel Araújo, Aurea and Quatro e Meia at the debut of the Fura Festival in Ovar

The municipality of Aveiro district has announced a three-day event with all activities free of charge, though some require prior registration for capacity control.

“The Fura Festival aims to be a strong brand, capable of enhancing all of the summer offerings in the municipality and establishing Ovar as a prime destination during that period,” stated Domingos Silva, the Mayor.

The mayor mentioned that the festival is the result of “a work that has been thought out, tried, and structured over the past few years,” and was “designed with the territory’s natural attractions, traditions, and genuine experiences in mind,” culminating in a “plural, dynamic, and very attractive” cultural program.

The Fura Festival features over 40 events catering to different age groups. Highlighted are nighttime concerts headlined by Portuguese musicians and preceded by local artists Flaviana Borges, Rui Oliveira, and Cátia Gonçalves.

For street arts, performances by Enano Clown, Karcocha, and Thorsten Grütjen will be featured, along with shows “MANInFESTAÇÃO” by the Sol D’Alma collective, and “Sem Lugar” by Companhia Vareira.

The inaugural edition of the event also plans the creation of an urban art mural, where artist Bárbara R. will guide the local community interested in participating in the project.

Additionally, the festival offers sea activities like surfing, bodyboarding, surfskating, and longboarding, and on land, guided bike tours, kart circuits, yoga, zumba, and dance classes. There will also be inflatables for children, an urban market (only Saturday and Sunday), and a beach environmental cleanup action (scheduled for Sunday morning).
