All 181 positions available for the 42nd competition for the training course for judicial courts and the 12th competition for the training of judges for administrative and tax courts have been filled.
Although scheduled for October, the commencement of this course only took place today, due to a delay related to psychological tests, as a second phase was conducted.
This delay was recognized today by the Minister of Justice, who admitted that “this incident had a real impact on the candidates’ lives” and must be “analyzed with seriousness, transparency, and a spirit of continuous improvement.”
Rita Alarcão Júdice also acknowledged the need to understand what happened, determine responsibilities, and make necessary changes. “The objective is clear: to avoid the repetition of similar situations and to strengthen candidates’ confidence,” stated the official responsible for the justice portfolio.
Outside the ceremony, speaking to journalists, Rita Alarcão Júdice emphasized that the administration “does not endorse those questions.” “It is not the kind of questions I consider appropriate to ask a judicial candidate,” she added, without elaborating.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Justice in a statement, the 42nd Entry Competition for the Magistrate Training Course for Judicial Courts admitted 150 candidates, and the 12th Entry Competition for the Training Course for Judges for Administrative and Tax Courts admitted 31 candidates, totaling 181.
Today, before the ceremony for the start of the new CEJ course, the Minister of Justice appointed the new president of the Center for Judicial Studies, appellate judge Edgar Taborda Lopes, in a session held behind closed doors.
