Minister says CP is “a house of serious people” and rejects “promiscuity”

“Is CP compromised? Does CP show clear signs of cronyism, benefiting private interests? I invite the deputy to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, do it now regarding CP, because if I had those indications, I would already be acting,” responded Miguel Pinto Luz to the deputy Francisco Gomes of Chega, emphasizing that CP “is a working entity” with “honest people.”

The official is being heard today in parliament as part of the special consideration of the State Budget proposal for 2026 and had been questioned by the deputy Francisco Gomes about alleged “promiscuity” and “lack of transparency” in CP.

“It’s not just about proclaiming corruption, file [a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office], state what indications regarding CP those are, because I do not have them,” challenged Pinto Luz.

In response to the PSD, the minister admitted there is an issue with CP’s maintenance, which “necessarily needs to be strengthened,” and stated that according to the transport company’s analysis, in addition to the approximately 200 trains expected to arrive in the coming years, “possibly just as many will still be needed.”
