The municipality of Mirandela has clarified that advisories against water use have been posted at the site and will remain until new analyses confirm the restoration of water quality.
A retesting has already been conducted, and results are expected by Friday or the following Monday. “The Municipality, in coordination with the competent entities, is investigating the causes of the contamination,” it confirmed.
Since June, water quality has been tested by both the municipal council and the APA. Reports published on the National Water Resources Information System website indicate that the values have been within parameters, and since 2016, the water quality at this river beach has been rated as “excellent.”
Albino Mendo river beach is located in the center of Mirandela and boasts a Blue Flag Award for water quality, cleanliness, and environmental management. This distinction is granted based on application and compliance with various criteria and is valid for one bathing season.
