Mithá Ribeiro describes Ventura’s “sins” and shoots: “Narcissistic predator”

Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro confirmed on Friday, in an opinion piece he wrote for Observador, that he left the Assembly of the Republic after being excluded from the shadow government selected by André Ventura. He describes Ventura as a “narcissistic predator” who “abuses power” and has a “vengeful demon.”

“I detached myself from Chega, as I would not tolerate being part of one of the most scandalous practices of social parasitism and subsidy dependency, becoming a puppet deputy in the hands of a narcissistic leader incompatible with any form of collective subject, who set out to destroy the foundations of a solid institution,” writes the former member of parliament.

In the article, Mithá Ribeiro outlines the “7 deadly sins” of André Ventura, frequently accusing him of being “narcissistic”: “Disregard [for the reformist ideal]”, “Moral unconcern”, “Civic negligence”, “Inhumane coldness as a leader of the ignorant”, “Pride [as a violator of sovereign duty]”, “Irresponsibility [playing with shadow government]” and “Immaturity [among politicians who destroy nations].”

Mithá Ribeiro further accuses the former leader of being unable to “contain the vengeful demon against those who criticize him” and preferring “to harm an entire society rather than risk exposing his ego to ignorance on a particular matter.”

The investigator, holding a doctorate in African Studies and a native of Mozambique, claims Ventura prevented him from speaking about racism in the Assembly of the Republic. “He stopped me from discussing the issue in Parliament and, to this day, the topic has been banned from Chega’s political and civic radar in the most cowardly social, civic, civilizational irresponsibility,” he asserts, adding that “another member advised against discussing it due to the risk of being labeled a new Joacine.”

According to Mithá Ribeiro, the leader of Chega “does not understand the ideological essence of his own political party”, which is becoming “increasingly dysfunctional in the pathological sense of the term.”

“His toxic personality poisons what he himself sowed in a right-wing that can no longer afford to be childish, primitive, immoral, irrational, irresponsible, submissive to an owner,” he criticizes, comparing André Ventura to José Sócrates.

“His inability to view his surroundings without the narcissistic filter leads him on an insane crusade against the collective subject. This existential urge breeds in the core of his power depressing personal interdependencies, morally dissolving and socially damaging if it were to govern. The country experienced the same poison with the Socialist Party of José Sócrates,” he concludes.

Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro was elected deputy in the XV, XVI, and XVII legislatures, always by the Leiria circle, and was reappointed as secretary of the Assembly of the Republic in June after the early legislative elections.

In the summer, he left the party’s vice-presidency after being removed by André Ventura from the position of coordinator of Chega’s study office and resigned from his deputy mandate in September.

It is now known that being left out of the party’s shadow government influenced the professor’s decision, who also withdrew from his candidacy for president of the Pombal City Council in the municipal elections held last Sunday.

Mithá Ribeiro was replaced in Parliament by Rui Fernandes.
