“The new infrastructure will be a significant asset and support for young families in Mondim,” stated Bruno Ferreira, the Mayor of Mondim de Basto, in a press release.
The municipality explained that the investment of one million euros is a response to a “growing need” in the region, which is the lack of available spots in existing day-care centers.
The contract signing for the project took place this week, with an expected completion timeline of 10 months.
The facility will be built on the grounds of the Mondim Oeste School Center and will have the capacity to accommodate approximately 80 children.
The new nursery will feature activity rooms, play areas, and learning support spaces, tailored to the educational and well-being needs of children.
According to the municipality, this new facility “will address the demand from families and ensure that all children benefit from appropriate educational conditions from an early age.”
“The municipal executive has been actively working to ensure the best educational resources,” emphasized Bruno Ferreira.
