According to Luís Montenegro, Donald Trump expressed solidarity with Portugal following the tragic accident involving the Elevador da Glória in Lisbon, which resulted in 16 deaths and numerous injuries.
“I spoke on the phone with President Donald Trump within the context of our alliance and bilateral relations. We both see many opportunities to strengthen economic, political, and cultural ties between the US and Portugal,” wrote the Portuguese executive leader on social media platform X, during his visit to Japan, which commences on Thursday for two days.
“I expressed my gratitude for the solidarity that President Trump conveyed to me regarding the Elevador da Glória tragedy,” the Portuguese Prime Minister further noted.
