Luís Montenegro spoke alongside Mozambican President, Daniel Chapo, at the closing conference of the sixth Portugal-Mozambique summit, held today at the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto, attended by around twenty government officials from both countries.
“We want to express our confidence in Mozambique’s economy and tell Portuguese companies that we are by their side in the internationalization process,” he stated.
According to the Portuguese Prime Minister, this line of credit, aimed at various sectors, serves to encourage Portuguese companies: “Look towards Mozambique and its political and social stabilization process as well as its economic ambitions.”
Portugal and Mozambique signed 22 legal instruments today during their sixth bilateral summit.
In the final declaration of the sixth Portugal-Mozambique summit, both countries agreed to prioritize economic aspects and sustainable development “at the top of their working agenda.”
“In expressing the shared political will, both countries will work on implementing a line of financing for the Mozambican economy, to be provided by Portugal, aimed at supporting business investment projects in Mozambique up to an amount of 500 million euros,” the text states.
The final declaration anticipates that Portugal and Mozambique will strengthen coordination mechanisms to maximize bilateral financing tools, “promoting business partnerships for the benefit of Mozambique’s development and economic diversification.”
