
Upon arrival at the airport, Montenegro will be welcomed by Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, with a morning visit scheduled to the recently rehabilitated Ngola Kiluanje school.
In the afternoon, the delegation will visit the site of the new Corimba waterfront project.
On Monday, the Portuguese Prime Minister has a scheduled meeting with the President of Angola, João Lourenço, before proceeding to the EU/Africa Summit, which will open at 13:00 (12:00 in Lisbon). He will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, who will lead the Portuguese delegation at the events scheduled for Tuesday.
The opening ceremony will feature speeches by the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, and the President of Angola, João Lourenço.
A total of 42 heads of state and government from Africa and Europe have confirmed their attendance at the 7th African Union-European Union Summit.
An official note confirms the presence of 28 heads of state and government and 18 representatives from African countries, as well as 14 European leaders, including Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, and 12 representatives from EU member states.
The event will also see participation from the President of the African Development Bank and regional African organizations.
The organization highlights the coverage by over 500 media professionals at this event.
Under the theme “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism,” the summit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the African Union and the European Union, promote a more balanced model of cooperation, consolidate regional security mechanisms, create opportunities for African youth, and deepen cooperation in migration matters.
In addition to the High-Level Conference, this 7th edition’s program includes a Business Forum, a Youth and Civil Society Forum, and a meeting of senior officials, forming a “dialogue platform” intended to produce concrete responses to European and African challenges.
