Luís Montenegro addressed the voters of the Socialist Party (PS) and Chega during the conclusion of his speech at the Évora rally.
He began by cautioning his supporters against placing too much trust in polls and underscored the importance of voting on the upcoming day of the election, the 18th.
Addressing voters from other parties in 2024, he urged them to reflect, stating, “It’s necessary to assess if the choice made a year ago had the desired effect.”
He then specifically focused on voters of Chega.
“It’s necessary to assess if many who voted more to the right are now surprised by the fact that this party often stands allied with the party from our left,” referring to the PS, he remarked.
Montenegro also directed his message towards PS voters, questioning if they “aren’t surprised to see the party from our left allied with the party from our right.”
“Consider if many of the concerns that led to the vote a year ago are truly better addressed and safeguarded in our proposal, within our Government,” he added.
