“The relationship between our defense industries and Embraer is strong, and I believe it can be one of the angles of development precisely for this project of greater economic and commercial exchange,” stated Luís Montenegro, after a bilateral meeting with the Brazilian head of state on the sidelines of the Climate Summit taking place in the Amazonian city of Belém.
“Because there is the capability within the Portuguese industry at the level of various components of the aircraft manufactured in Brazil, there is also a lot of technology, a lot of science that has been shared, and therefore we have in some way assumed the importance that the component and maintenance industry in Portugal can have in the context of the investment we are making,” reinforced the Portuguese Prime Minister.
Recently, Embraer delivered a KC-390 Millennium to the Portuguese Air Force and has been gaining a foothold in NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), with countries such as Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, and the Czech Republic announcing orders for this aircraft.
Embraer is a manufacturer and world leader of commercial aircraft up to 150 seats, has more than 100 customers worldwide, and maintains industrial units, offices, service centers, and part distribution centers, among other activities, in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
In Portugal, Embraer is the majority shareholder of OGMA – Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, in Alverca, holding 65% of the capital.
The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, concludes today a two-day visit to Belém to participate in the Climate Summit, a meeting of world leaders preceding COP30.
The Climate Summit brings together delegations from 143 countries, of which just over a third will be led by their respective national leaders, with confirmed absences from the three leaders of the world’s largest polluters (China, the United States, and India).
Among the leaders who have publicly confirmed their presence are French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
