“Sincerely, in many regions, in many lands, there is not full utilization of what is available to local authorities. Today we have very interesting support and financing programs to refurbish schools and provide opportunities for young people to qualify themselves,” stated Luís Montenegro in Silves, Algarve.
During a campaign initiative in support of the candidate for Silves City Hall, Montenegro expressed that conditions exist to offer daycare and kindergartens for everyone, in collaboration with municipalities and private social solidarity institutions.
The social-democratic leader also highlighted “programs to invest in public housing for affordable rental,” and noted “a program that municipalities should take advantage of by simplifying procedures to ease life for citizens and entrepreneurs.”
“We have a very significant set of incentives for economic activity and support for the establishment of companies, especially in low-density areas, making use of available funds, with local authorities acting as intermediaries between entrepreneurs and various public administration bodies,” he remarked.
When questioned by journalists about reports that public prosecutors believe a criminal inquiry should be opened into the activities of the company Spinumviva, Luís Montenegro declined to comment.
In addition to Silves, the PSD leader participated in various campaign activities today in the municipalities of Faro and Loulé, concluding the day with a dinner rally in Albufeira.
