After spending the night of the municipal elections at the PSD headquarters in Porto, Luís Montenegro proceeded to Pedro Duarte’s headquarters on Avenida dos Aliados, where he embraced him upon arrival and expressed gratitude for the party’s victory.
“I have a particular affection and relationship with Pedro Duarte,” stated the Prime Minister to journalists.
Montenegro revealed that becoming the Mayor of Porto was always Pedro Duarte’s ambition, admitting that his departure from the government, where he handled Parliamentary Affairs, was a difficult decision for both.
“But the city of Porto is a city that means a lot to both me and the country,” he emphasized.
Luís Montenegro stated that the former minister will “surely be an inspiration for the region,” promising “a good demonstration of modernity, balance, cohesion, and a transformative spirit.”
