More than 100 personnel, supported by eight aerial units, are battling a forest fire that erupted today in Arouca, Aveiro district, according to a source from the Porto Metropolitan Area Sub-Regional Command.
The alert for the fire in the Alvarenga area was raised at 1:15 PM, as reported by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection on its website. Currently, there are 118 personnel, 29 vehicles, and eight aerial units deployed at the scene.
The civil protection source confirmed there are no injuries or homes at risk but noted that by 2:30 PM, the fire was “burning with considerable intensity.”
