
The Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection reported that the alert for the fire, which broke out at Monte do Cantarinho in the area of the União das Freguesias de Benavila e Valongo, was given at 12:39 p.m.
Around 2:20 p.m., the fire had an active front and was consuming an area of bush and forest consisting of cork oaks and eucalyptus. There were no reports of injuries or homes at risk, it added.
At the same time, according to the sub-regional command, there were 110 personnel involved in fighting the flames, supported by 33 vehicles and five aerial resources.
