More than 130 NGOs gather today in Lisbon for a clean ocean.

The latest edition of the COOL—Convention of Organizations for a Clean Ocean—is the most international to date, the organization announced in a statement. It emphasized the support and participation of international partners such as the RISE UP network—A Blue Call to Action and Fauna&Flora—Saving Nature Together.

The COOL25 aims to serve as a strategic alignment platform for these organizations, facilitating the sharing of concerns and development of proposals to enhance the impact of civic participation in the Conference.

The event features briefing sessions on the Nice conference and a ‘workshop’ coordinated by Fauna&Flora, one of four global workshops scheduled for April. The goal is to draft an open letter with key messages from civil society to be presented to policymakers during UNOC3.

The COOL25 is set to officially launch the “On the Road to UNOC3” initiative, which seeks to provide financial support for both national and international NGOs to ensure their active presence and voice at the conference in Nice.

Initiated in 2019, the COOL is an endeavor promoted by the Oceano Azul Foundation, focused on a sustainable future for the ocean. It aims to foster knowledge sharing and synergy creation among civil society organizations.
